President’s Volunteer Service Award.

I was shocked and surprised to be a recipient of this prestigious award. Volunteering, cleaning our planet of pollution is what makes me feel accomplished and I don’t do it for the awards or accolades but this one will be framed and I am proud of it. Just remember, anyone can make a difference!

Mananalu Water!

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards!

I was named as a state honoree for the state of Tennessee. Each state had 1 honoree for high school level and 1 for middle school level from each state. After a long weekend of zoom calls and meeting other state honorees, they named 10 national honorees. There were some amazing youth doing wonderful things and I was happy to be among those 100 kids recognized but my weekend got even more amazing when I was named one the top 10!!!!

Check out the link below! This is such an amazing honor and I am more than thrilled but humbled to represent Tennessee in the best way!

EARTH WEEK!

It’s already been a super busy week… well, month for me, but I have so many exciting new things coming and new announcements this week and next week and I can’t wait to share!

It’s not always the cleanest and most delightful work but after so much dirty work, the things I’ve been working on have been fun, and super special. Ella and I (AKA The Cleanup Kids) have been working on filmmaking and some other new ventures that pushed us out of our comfort zones but it’s been worth it. He’s a quick sneak peak at a new short video we did to quickly explain who we are.

Rare bird sighting!

I was able to see an amazing beautiful bird this week, the Snowy owl! I live in Tennessee so these birds are not normally seen here. This is the first one in my city/county and only the 15th seen on our state. It’s thought that females will wait until they know there’s enough food so when they do have chicks, there’s more than average and they need to expand their territories so they sometimes go further south.

This beauty isn’t the biggest owl but one of the heaviest because of the thick feathers, which keep them warm in cold climates like the arctic.

Youth Ocean Conservation Summit

I was so excited to be able to present about my grant and progress over the last year. I have invested time and a lot of energy to help save the Tennessee River.

The Tennessee River is the most polluted with microplastics than any other river in the world tested to date. I believe some of these microplastics are from fishing line and monofilament because w shave huge fishing tournaments here which generate millions of dollars. This also means fishing line waste while anglers are busy and the broken line gets tossed in the trash.

I’ve started monofilament recycling and now have 10 receptacles placed along the river.

I can’t wait to see what next year brings and how I can further my projects.

My friend, Ella, and I started our own YouTube channel to educate and inspire kids. People sometimes tell us not to worry about the planet or that 1 plastic cup, or straw. Don’t worry that our planet is dying and we are slowing extending her misery. Don’t worry that the ocean, which basically gives us life is being killed at an unbelievable rate.
We do worry, kids worry. We know we want change, we know we need change. We are a small population but we are all part fit what future so we can and will create change. We can better be planet if you let our voices be heard. Let us work, let us care, let us be the change for our planet. Last week we talked about the Amazon and how important it is to take care of. This week we will address single use plastics as well as talk to a very special guest. Tune in, check it out and give us a follow. It’s important! It’s time! Time for kids to make a difference and be heard! It’s time for our worry to feel real and let’s address it with some real solutions!
